World War Two was not just won on the battlefield. Everyone had a role to play. In Birmingham the Advertising Tablet Company Ltd normally made beer trays for use in pubs. During the war they made bomb casings. Overseeing all war work was the Ministry of Production. They noticed the company’s ability to work with sheet metal and the presence of suitable tools. Sharing production of war material amongst many companies made good sense. It reduced the risk of a German attack on one factory cutting supplies of key items.  MORE
