Birmingham Tramcar No395

Birmingham Tramcar No395 | © Thinktank Trust | Come and see it in the Move It gallery at Thinktank

Have you travelled on a tram? Electric trams were introduced in Birmingham in 1901. Unusually, they used narrow track. The trams were popular, and eventually there were 843 trams. Buses replaced the system after World War Two. This is the only surviving complete Birmingham tramcar. It was built in 1912 by the United Electric Car Company. It ran on different routes across the city. It was withdrawn in 1950 after running 1,057,573 miles in 38 years.
