 John Cobb broke the Land Speed Record in this car three times. His final record set in 1947 was 394.20 miles per hour.
Cobb set his first record in a speed duel with fellow Englishman Captain George Eyston. It took place in the summer of 1938 on the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, USA.
Eyston reclaimed the record the next day in his car Thunderbolt. Cobb regained the record in 1939, and improved it in 1947.
